Tips For Serving Ice Cream Pies
I remember the first time I served an Ice Cream Pie. I thought for sure the knife would break or someone was going to get hurt trying to cut off a slice in their plate. Here are some handy tips to help you cut and serve Ice Cream Pies without all the hassles.
Frozen ice cream pies serve better if they’re removed from the freezer and allowed to soften for 10 minutes before serving. However “baked alaska” type pies should be served immediately after baking.
Dip a knife in cold water before cutting a meringue topped pie to prevent sticking (no need to dry knife). Repeat whenever meringue sticks.
For a non-stick crumb crust, wrap a hot wet towel under the bottom and around the sides of the pie plate and hold there for a few minutes, just before serving the pie. This loosens the crust so it will slip out easily.
