During the Hawaiian Luau’s there is typically a lot of eating, drinking, dancing and games. Today Luau’s are used to celebrate birthdays, retirements, graduations, weddings, and even pool parties. Decorating for a Luau is very easy, just remember flowers. That is right, flowers everywhere is the idea. They symbolized beauty and happiness. Then you will want tiki torches for the lighting. Some leis would also be a nice addition. You will also want umbrella drink parasols to decorate your drinks with. You may also want a few other decorations, like the ceramic tiki mugs, hula girl straws, tiki garland, tiki napkins, tiki drink shaker, tiki shaped coasters or the hula girl tableware set all pictured below. Now, after you get done decorating it is time to decide what else you will have at your party. Below are some of the most popular drinks to serve at your Luau. I have included the recipes for the mixed drinks Mai Tai, Pina Colada, Chi Chi, Blue Hawaiian, Lime Daiquiri and the Strawberry Daiquiri.
Ceramic Tiki Mugs

Mai Tai

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Light Rum
  • 1 oz Dark Rum
  • 1 oz Triple Sec
  • 1/2 oz of Amaretto
  • 1 oz Orange Juice
  • 1 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 1 Dash of Grenadine
  • 1 Dash of Lime Juice
  • 1 Orange Slice
  • Cherry

Instructions: Shake well and pour over ice. Garnish with a Cherry and Orange.

Hula Girl Straws

Pina Colada

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz Pina Colada Mix
  • 1 oz Light Rum
  • 1 cup Ice
  • 1 oz Half and Half
  • Cherry
  • Pineapple Slice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a blender or mix well and enjoy. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple.

Tiki Garland

Chi Chi

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz Pina Colada Mix
  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 cup of Ice
  • 1 oz Half and Half
  • Cherry
  • Pineapple Slice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a blender or mix well and serve on the rocks. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple. Drink and enjoy.

Blue Hawaiian

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Light Rum
  • 1 oz Blue Curacao
  • 3 oz Pina Colada Mix
  • 1 cup Ice
  • Cherry
  • Pineapple Slice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a blender or mix well and enjoy on the rocks. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple.

Tiki Drink Shakers

Lime Daiquiri

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Light Rum
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • 1 cup Ice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass.

Hula Girl Tableware Set

Strawberry Daiquiri

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Light Rum
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • 3 oz Fresh Strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup Ice

Instructions: Blend ingredients thoroughly. Serve in a glass with sugar on the rim.

  • Splash craneberry juice.

    • Shake liqour, juice, and ice. Strain into tall glass filled with ice. Fill with 3/4 of way with sprite or 7-up splash Craneberry juice on top. Garnish with orange slice & cherry.

    • 1/3 c Bacardi rum or Vodka

    Follow the directions for 1 small box of Jell-O instead of using 1 cup of water, use 6 ice cubes and let them totally melt. Add 1/3 cup Bacardi Rum or Vodka. Spray thirteen 2 ounce plastic cups with Pam then fill them 3/4 of the way full and refrigerate.
