Mai Tai

Ingredients:

• 1 oz Light Rum
• 1 oz Dark Rum
• 1 oz Triple Sec
• 1/2 oz of Amaretto
• 1 oz Orange Juice
• 1 oz Pineapple Juice
• 1 Dash of Grenadine
• 1 Dash of Lime Juice
• 1 Orange Slice
• Cherry

Instructions: Shake well and pour over ice. Garnish with a Cherry and Orange.

Pina Colada

Ingredients:

• 4 oz Pina Colada Mix
• 1 oz Light Rum
• 1 cup Ice
• 1 oz Half and Half
• Cherry
• Pineapple Slice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a blender or mix well and enjoy. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple.

Chi Chi

Ingredients:

• 4 oz Pina Colada Mix
• 1 oz Vodka
• 1 cup of Ice
• 1 oz Half and Half
• Cherry
• Pineapple Slice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a blender or mix well and serve on the rocks. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple. Drink and enjoy.

Blue Hawaiian

Ingredients:

• 1 oz Light Rum
• 1 oz Blue Curacao
• 3 oz Pina Colada Mix
• 1 cup Ice
• Cherry
• Pineapple Slice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a blender or mix well and enjoy on the rocks. Garnish with a cherry and pineapple.

Lime Daiquiri

Ingredients:

• 1.5 oz Light Rum
• 1 oz Lime Juice
• 1 cup Ice

Instructions: Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass.

Strawberry Daiquiri

Ingredients:

• 1.5 oz Light Rum
• 1 oz Lime Juice
• 3 oz Fresh Strawberries
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 1 cup Ice

Instructions: Blend ingredients thoroughly. Serve in a glass with sugar on the rim.

If you are planning a wedding shower here are a few tips on what drinks to serve. You want to keep it simple and sweet and have a variety of drinks available. Remember you will be having guest that are a variety of ages and you want to make sure that your party has something for everyone.
No matter what always have the following available:

• Bottled Water
• Soda
• Tea
• Coffee

Now to the fun part of the drinks.

CITRUS PUNCH

• 2 half gallon cartons Minute Maid citrus punch
• 1 (2 liter) bottle 7-Up
• 1 qt. orange sherbet

Mix citrus punch and 7-Up in punch bowl with some ice and add sherbet to float on top. You can make ice cubes from 7-Up or citrus punch the day before so as not to water down punch.

HAWAIIAN PUNCH

• 1 can Hawaiian Punch
• 1 qt. pale dry ginger ale
• 1 qt. 7-Up
• 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries, broken up
• 2 tbsp. lemon juice
• Orange slices

Pour 1 can Hawaiian Punch, dry ginger ale, 7-Up and lemon juice in punch bowl. Add broken up frozen strawberries. Add ice ring and float orange slices on top.

CHAMPAGNE PUNCH

• 1 (12 oz.) can frozen fruit punch, partially thawed
• 1 (10 oz.) frozen strawberries
• 2/3 c. orange juice
• 2 tbsp. lemon juice
• 2 (12 oz.) bottles chilled ginger ale
• 1 qt. champagne

In a large punch bowl combine fruit punch, 3 cups water, strawberries, orange and lemon juices, stir to dissolve punch. Slowly pour in ginger ale and champagne. Makes 25 – 4 oz. servings. Make frozen ice ring and place in punch bowl.

• 1/2 cup of milk
• 3/4 cup of orange juice
• 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
• 3/4 cup of vanilla frozen yogurt
• 1 1/2 tablespoons orange juice concentrate

Directions:

Add all frozen ingredients to a blender, then add all remaining ingredients. Blending on high until smooth.

For a delicious variation on this recipe try decreasing the amount of frozen yogurt to 1/2 cup and add 1/4 cup of frozen banana chunks.

• 1 cup of sliced apricots
• 1/2 cup of apple juice
• 3/4 cup of low-fat vanilla ice cream
• 1 1/4 cups of ice

Add the ice, fruit, and remaining ingredients to the blender.  Blend on high until smooth.

• 1/2 cup of apple juice
• 3/4 cup of lemonade
• 1/2 cup of frozen raspberries
• 1/4 cup of frozen strawberries
• 1/2 cup of raspberry sherbet

Add all froze ingredients to a blender then add all remaining ingredients.  Blend on high until smooth.

• 1/2 cup of pineapple juice
• 1/2 cup of orange juice
• 1/2 frozen banana (chunks)
• 1/2 cup pineapple sherbet
• 3/4 cup frozen mango slices

Add all frozen ingredients to a blender, then add all remaining ingredients.  Blend on high until smooth.

• 1/2 cup of apple juice
• 1/2 cup of milk
• 1/2 frozen banana (chunks)
• 1 1/4 cups of frozen strawberries
• 1/2 cup of strawberry yogurt

Add all frozen ingredients in a blender, then add all remain ingredients.  Blend on high until smooth.

I have noticed that as my kids are getting older it is harder and harder to find special gifts.  It seems like they have everything!  This year her favorite gifts where the following:

1.  Dance Maker, the Wave (this was purchased online Toys R Us)

2.  Collectors Edition Barbie (also purchased online at Toys R Us)

3.  A birthstone heart shaped necklace. (purchased at Walmart)

4.  A large Teddy Bear that said Princess (also purchased at Walmart)

5. A nail art kit (purchased at Target)

6. A jean purse.  (This was a gift from someone else, so I am not sure where it was purchased at.)

We decorated the table with a purple table cloth, purple plates, and plastic ware (her favorite colors) and found some napkins with purple and pink on them that said Happy Birthday with balloons on them.  Her cake was a marble cake with a Cinderella theme, it had a glass slipper on it along with a plastic figure of Cinderella.  We had the cake and we ordered County Line (which is her favorite bar-b-que place).

The items that I purchased at Toys R Us where delivered promptly!  I ordered these items and had them within 3 days!  The were packaged well!  The prices where cheaper online than what they were in the store. 

Walmart, I ordered her cake the day before, both times that I went to the store (the day that I ordered it and the day that I picked it up) I had to stand there and wait to be noticed.  Both times I was told, ” I am sorry I didn’t see you standing there.”   I found the items that I wanted to purchase fairly easy and the lady at the Jewlery counter was very helpful and she rang up all of my purchases.  Everything was at a reasonable price.

Target was an overall pleasant experience.  We were able to go in and find what we were looking for and able to check out quickly. Plus the price was very competitive with Walmart.   I have to admit that we were lured in by the aroma of Starbucks coffee house inside Target.   

I called the order in to County Line (bar-b-que) and went and picked up the food, it was ready shortly after I arrived.  This is kind of an expensive restaurant, but they have excellent food.  I had ordered their brisket, smoked chicken, and garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and whole wheat bread. It was Yummy! 

On the way home I realized, that I had forgotten to pick up drinks and birthday candles.  OOPS!  So, I headed to the local Albertson’s and purchased the candles, some tropical fruit sherbert, strawberry soda, and sprite.  I added the entire container of sherbert to a 2 quart pitcher and added one complete 2 liter bottle of sprite and 1/2 of the 2 liter bottle of strawberry soda.  All of the kids at the party thought this was the best drink! 

• 1 qt. cranberry juice
• 1 qt. unsweetened pineapple juice 
• 6 cloves 
• 1 stick ( 3 inch) cinnamon 
• 1/4 tsp allspice 
• 1/2 cup brown sugar 

  
Combine all ingredients in a 3 qt glass container suitable for use in a microwave.  Cover and heat for around 17 minutes, until mixture is bubbly.  Pour hot punch into mugs for serving.  Refrigerate left over and reheat as desired.  Makes 2 1/2 quarts.

Note:  This punch is healthier if you make your own cranberry juice and pineapple juice.  When choosing your cranberries, look for ones that are bright red in color, hard, and plump. The cranberries will keep up to two months refrigerated, or you can seal them in plastic bags or a container and freeze them for up to one year! When selecting fresh pineapple, opt for those that feel slightly soft to touch, are heavy for their size and do not contain any bruising or brown spots. Its plume of spiky green leaves should be fresh in appearance, not tired and withered looking, and its aroma should be sweetly aromatic. Whole, very fresh pineapple can be stored at cool room temperature, if eaten within 1 or 2 days. If you plan to eat it over a longer period of time, store it in the fridge in a perforated plastic bag for up to 5 days.

Stir sugar and cocoa into espresso. Cool mixture. Fill a glass with ice and pour into the blender. Blend all ingredients for 30 to 45 seconds. Sip and enjoy.
